13 Year Old Toms River Boy Steals Car and Crashes After Spotting Mother
A 13-year-old New Jersey boy stole a car and crashed it when he became distracted after seeing his mother driving toward him from the opposite direction on the street according to police.
The boy stole a 2012 Toyota Camry from the Bay View Corporate Center on Hooper Avenue in Toms River yesterday afternoon, police said. He traveled into the village area, driving at over 40 miles per hour on Brokaw Boulevard.
At some point, he passed his mother driving her own vehicle from the opposite direction and became distracted, according to cops. The Camry he was operating left the road and struck a tree.
The boy was taken to Jersey Shore Hospital with a broken nose and hip injury. He's been charged with reckless driving and operating without a license.
Other charges are pending as investigation is ongoing.
