When you are as small a state as New Jersey is, and you have so many tourists, it's hard to imagine that any beach could be kept secret for more than a minute or two, but it turns out two New Jersey beaches have managed to stay under the radar long enough to be listed among the top 50 best secret beaches in America.

The list was published by the well-respected Family Vacation Guide, which singles out two Garden State beaches among the best secret beaches, and one of them even makes the top 5.

The beach that's listed at #5 is Sedge Island, and the article cites the wildlife, lack of commercial development, and the soft sand as some highlights that make this Ocean County beach, only accessible by boat, so special.

And, at #49 is Pearl Beach in Cape May Point. This awesome spot has been included on many secret beach lists before and with excellent reason.

The #1 best secret beach in America, according to this list, is Awahua Beach in Hawaii, so our New Jersey beaches are in good company.
