A Bayville couple are facing 24 counts of animal neglect after police found two dozen dogs in their home living in deplorable conditions.

Berkeley Township Police Officers went to the Moorage Avenue home on October 11 on a complaint of numerous dogs and neglect.

Berkeley Animal Control arrived and requested that Luke, 49, and Alison Peters, 42, voluntarily surrender their dogs due to the unsafe living conditions.

The dogs were safely transported to Southern Ocean County Shelter where they received medical care.

Luke and Alison Peters were charged with 24 counts of Animal Neglect.

They were processed and released pending a court date.
