I was at the Shop Rite in Manasquan last week and saw this heartwarming note.

As Lou Russo brought attention to in an earlier post today, the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties continues to need your help as it feeds more needy residents than ever, especially after Sandy.

So for stressed holiday shoppers to take a moment to check the bottom of their receipt, see that they were elegible for a free turkey, ham, or lasagna, and then donate it to the Foodbank just goes to show the kind of love that has spread in recent months.

The need for food won't end anytime soon. So remember...it doesn't have to be a holiday for you to get free stuff or good deals from your supermarkets. Why not make it a habit all year long to check your receipts and maybe donate the stuff you wouldn't normally claim, or don't need for yourself, to the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

And with Easter approaching, I'm sure there will be more chances for you to accumulate enough grocery trips to get another free ham or turkey!
