Aluminum Foil Alert
How many times have you wrapped your food in aluminum foil and popped it in the oven or toaster oven to cook or reheat your meal? Now’s the time to stop this cooking habit as it can be harmful to your health.
The toxic metal is especially true for spicy and acidic foods. For example, a marinade made with lemon or pasta with tomato sauce. Aluminum products include wrapping foil, inexpensive pots and pans as well as processed foods that are stored in aluminum trays. The health hazard occurs when the aluminum products reach high temperatures which causes leaching of aluminum into your food. High levels of aluminum in the body can cause decreased functions of the central nervous system, learning difficulties, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and various bone diseases.
Some alternatives to using aluminum products include cooking and heating your leftovers in heatproof glass or porcelain cookware. You should also remove your processed foods from the aluminum tray and heat them in stainless steel pans or iron skillets. CLICK HERE for details on aluminum dangers and safe eating.
