At this point in time last year the fate of the fall high school sports season in New Jersey was very much in doubt.  While outdoor sports did proceed the season was not only delayed but shortened and there were more than few games postponed due to COVID-19 issues.

Here we are 12 months later and officially the football season began this past weekend with only two games involving Shore Conference teams.  However this week finds 20 games from Thursday through Monday and the season for soccer, field hockey and others follows that.  Yes there are concerns as positive test results increase but right now its game on.

Our Shore Sports Network is in full football mode and tonight will be the debut of the Varsity Link Coaches Corner as Bob Badders, Ed Sarluca and I preview the season, pick our division champs and talk about the top players.  Tonight’s show will be broadcast from Asylum Sports Center in Wall from 7-8pm and you can watch in at www.shoresportsnetwork.com and of course on our app as well.

On Friday we will launch a new feature called The Block GameDay Countdown and I will be at Toms River South as the Indians host the Brick Green Dragons. I’ll provide insight on the Shore Sports Network Facebook page before, during and after when we present the MVP award to the games top performer.  Even better is look for our vehicle at the game because you can sign up for a season-ending drawing in which one person will get dinner for 6 at the popular and newly renovated Butcher’s Block in Long Branch…plus we’ll provide limousine transportation.

Of course on shoresportsnetwork.com you’ll find weekly features including our football scoreboard, Football Picks, Top 10 Tuesday, Player and Team of the Week and more.  Oh and for those waiting for our 112-page Football Preview Special Issue it will be out in the next day or so and check our website for when and where you can pick up your FREE copy.
