Arrests made following fight outside ‘The Park Tap & Grill’ in Hazlet
Four men with the last name Fitzpatrick are in big trouble. Devin, 20, of Hazlet Brian, 58, of Hazlet, Matthew, 30, of Union Beach and Sean, 24, of Middletown are all facing charges following a brawl outside 'The Park Tap and Grill' in Hazlet Saturday night.
Hazlet Police say two were thrown out of the bar for causing a disturbance around 9:37 pm.
They then allegedly started damaging other peoples cars in the parking lot.
Responding police officers asked all four men who were attempting to fight bar staff to leave.
They didn't want to.
Instead they allegedly began assaulting the police officers, three of whom ended up in the hospital.
A Hazlet Police K-9 Dog was deployed when one of the men refused commands to stop assaulting an officer.
Backup was called in from other towns to diffuse the situation and help make the arrests.
Patrolman Richard Wilhelm and Patrolman Thomas Enright were treated at an area hospital for back and neck pain and released.
Lieutenant Michael Duncan was admitted to Riverview Hospital and required immediate surgery for a serious fracture to his hand.
Devin Fitzpatrick and Matthew Fitzpatrick were transported to Bayshore Hospital for their injuries and then were brought to the Monmouth County Jail.
The suspects were charged with the following:
- Matthew, with Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, Defiant Trespassing, and Injury to Law Enforcement Animal.
- Devin, with Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief, and Defiant Trespassing.
- Sean, with Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Defiant Trespassing. He was released on his own recognizance.
- Brian, with Disorderly Conduct and Defiant Trespassing. He was released on his own recognizance.
It was not indicated that all four men are related.
