Asbury Park Carousel Awards

The 'Spirit of Asbury Park' Carousel Awards are being presented soon by the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce, and guess who's among the honorees?
We often talk about how greatly honored we are to have been part of the Boardwalk scene every Friday during the past several summer seasons when we broadcast live from the New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) Asbury Park Boardwalk Studio thanks to Tom Hayes (pictured here with me and Sylvia Sylvia from the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce.)

Tom Hayes is a beloved fixture in our community and has made it his mission to introduce our radio listeners to so many of the non-profit groups and volunteers in our area supported by NJNG who are helping those in need in Monmouth and Ocean Counties in so many ways.

We have also had a front-row seat to all of the rebuilding/rebirth that Asbury Park has gone through and have loved helping our listeners realize how great it is to come to Asbury Park for their beaches, boardwalk, restaurants, shops, and, of course, entertainment/bands/shows/festivals/concerts!

Therefore it is quite an honor that there will be a joint award presented to Tom Hayes of NJNG and Townsquare Media, the company that owns 94.3 The Point and NJ 101.5 -- the two radio stations that broadcast from Asbury Park's Boardwalk.

Our studio on the boardwalk is located inside the trailer that is the Chamber of Commerce Visitor's Center on the Boardwalk at Third Avenue. Our radio stations have broadcast on Fridays and the weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends since 2014. We have loved every Friday that we get to see the sun rise over the ocean and greet all of our morning show listeners in person, and hope to be out there again starting the Friday of Memorial Day weekend.

The Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce Carousel Awards will take place on May 10th, 2019, at Convention Hall. Other honorees include Kimmee Masi of Confections of a Rock$tar for entrepreneurial Excellence, Senator Vin Gopal for Public Service, The Asbury Park Music Foundation for Non-Profit, Russell Lewis  of Watermark for the Visionary Award, Lynn Kirchdoerffer (The Asbury Ushers) for the President's Choice Award, Vic Sood/Home Drug Store for the Landmark Business Award.

This event will also include a gift auction to benefit Coastal Habitat for Humanity, another cause near and dear to our hearts that we help to support in any way we can.
