Police in Asbury Park said that they have found the man allegedly responsible for committing multiple burglaries on Cookman Avenue earlier this week.

The heists took place in the overnight hours at 'Confections of a Rock Star' and at 'Rebel Supply Company' when someone broke the glass of the back door and ran off with $1,000 in cash each time.

There was a security video from 'Confections of a Rock Star' that showed a man described as heavy-set, light skin, wearing a light-colored hoody, dark-colored face mask, and glasses along with light-colored sweatpants, and sneakers with reflectors on them.

Asbury Park Police used this information as part of their investigation into both burglaries and it helped with identifying 23-year old Derek M. Charpentier of Asbury Park as the suspect in the burglaries, which led to his Friday arrest.

Charpentier is charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft as well as two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Funk was also charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Charpentier remains in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, pending a court date.
