Asbury Park Woman Faces 20 Years In Prison For Fatal Stabbing

FREEHOLD – An Asbury Park woman pleaded guilty to killing her neighbor back in 2016, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

When appearing before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Vincent N. Falcetano, 30-year-old Jennie Cullum pleaded guilty to first degree Aggravated Manslaughter for killing 23-year-old Iquan Tyler.

In a joint investigation conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and Asbury Park Police Department, it was revealed that Cullum fatally stabbed Tyler following an argument.

Tyler’s family then alerted an Asbury Park police officer.

Unresponsive and covered in blood, he was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township where he was pronounced dead due to a single stab wound to his left shoulder.

After interviewing numerous witnesses, police arrested and charged Cullum the next day.

Cullum continues to be held in lieu of bail at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

Her sentencing is scheduled for June 14^th 2019.

She can face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. She also will be subject to the provisions of the "No Early Release Act" requiring her to serve 85%  of her sentence before being eligible for parole, with a mandatory five-year period of parole supervision upon her release.
