Cold Wind Continues

Ahhh, one of the toughest wakeups of the year — welcome back to work, school, and reality! I have a pretty quiet weather forecast for you on this Cyber Monday, as we prepare to turn the calendar page from November to December.

The forecast for Monday looks very similar to Sunday — bright and sunny, seasonably cool, and somewhat blustery. Wind gusts on Monday will occasionally top 20 mph, adding to the chill of the day. High temperatures are expected to reach the lower 50s, close to normal for late November.

As the wind calms and the sky remains clear, Monday night will turn pretty cold. Most low temperatures across the Garden State will dip into the lower to mid 30s. The usual cool spots (NW NJ and the Pine Barrens) should easily fall into the 20s by Tuesday morning.

Subtle Warmup

The lack of substantial wind will automatically make Tuesday more pleasant than Monday. It will be another sunny, dry day. High temperatures look to tick upward by a few degrees, into the mid 50s across New Jersey.

Wednesday promises to be the warmest day of the week, with some thermometers making a run for 60 degrees. Pleasant partly sunny skies should make for a very nice late autumn day.

Downhill Trend

Clouds will increase on Thursday, and the sky will eventually become mostly cloudy to close out November. Alongside an influx of cooler air, temperatures will return to more seasonable levels, near 50 degrees.

Our next real weather maker will be a front set to arrive Friday morning. Still lots of question marks around here — timing, duration and intensity of any precipitation, and the exact character of the air behind the front. I'm thinking we'll see some rain — just rain, nothing wintry — for the first half of Friday, before skies begin to clear Friday afternoon.

As long as this forecast plays out on schedule, the first weekend of December should be seasonable and quiet. The long-range forecast shows a mix of sun and clouds for Saturday and Sunday, with high temperatures in the lower 50s at the warmest.
