Barnegat, NJ Police continue investigating two-car crash that claimed a drivers life
Barnegat Township Police continue investigating a two-car crash that later claimed the life of one of the drivers involved in the collision.
Alice Toriello, 59, of Barnegat was trying to make a left turn onto Cole Drive from Barnegat Boulevard on Sunday afternoon, police said, when she collided with Rudolph Schoenberg of Waretown, who was heading north on Barnegat Boulevard heading towards Route 9.
When Barnegat Police Officers responded around 3:53 pm Sunday, they found Toriello unconscious and unresponsive from injuries sustained in the crash.
There were life-saving measures attempted on Toriello, who was then brought to Southern Ocean Medical Center, where she later passed away.
Police said that Schoenberg suffered minor injuries, and declined medical attention.
In addition to Barnegat Police Detectives and Traffic Safety Officers at the scene of the accident, the Ocean County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded for scene processing.
The Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office also responded to the accident.
