Barnegat woman found with heroin after rolling past stop sign in Lakehurst
Lakehurst Police have charged a Barnegat woman with possession after she was found under the influence during a traffic stop where officers also found heroin and hypodermic needles.
Officers pulled over Melissa Deman, 30, around 2:08 pm on April 15 after she failed to come to a complete stop at the stop sign on Rose and Oak Street.
Deman was exhibiting signs of being under the influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) when the motor vehicle stop was made and so officers searched her and her vehicle and found 36 wax folds of suspected Heroin and a hypodermic needle.
She was then brought to Lakehurst Police Headquarters for processing where she was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle and Being Under the Influence of CDS.
Deman was issued a summons for the charges and released pending a mandatory court appearance with the Ocean County Superior Court.
