Florida man busted in New Jersey after being found with 10,000 fentanyl pills

A Florida man has been arrested in New Jersey after being found with a massive amount of fentanyl pills.

Shane Smith, 33, of Daytona Beach has been arrested and charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance after an investigation led to him being spotted with 10,000 fentanyl pills which are worth about $40,000 on the streets, according to multi agency release by Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, Ricky J. Patel, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Newark Field Office of United States Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and Mount Laurel Police Chief Stephen Riedener. 

Following his arrest in the parking lot of the Walmart on Route 73 and subsequent processing, Smith was brought to the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly to await a detention hearing.

In this case, Smith was found with what's known as rainbow fentanyl, according to investigators, because they're multiple colors.

There was an investigation run between the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Gang, Gun and Narcotics Task Force, United States Homeland Security Investigations – Cherry Hill Office, and the Mount Laurel Police Department but it's not known what sparked it or how far the drug crimes spread for Smith.

Investigators said the details of this probe "are not being released at this time."

Smith will be prosecuted by Burlington County Assistant Prosecutor Michael Angermeier, who is the supervisor of the BCPO Gang, Gun and Narcotics Task Force.
