Beloved New Jersey Food Truck Transforming into an Epic New Restaurant
Is Jersey the food truck capital of the world? It sure seems that way.
If I were to list off all of the mouthwatering food trucks just at the Shore alone it would take me hours.
There is one food truck, in particular, that is practically a household name, and for good reason.
It all started on an episode of Shark Tank back in 2012.
Cousins Sabin Lomac and Jim Tselikis stepped into the shark tank looking for $55,000 in return for 5% equity in their food truck concept that was gaining popularity in Los Angeles.
A few of the sharks bit into the idea (literally.) In the end, Barbara Corcoran landed the final deal for 15% equity in the business.
This would be a very wise investment on her part because that one L.A. food truck would soon be franchised into major cities like Atlanta, Orlando, and Phoenix just to mention a few.
We're talking about Cousins Maine Lobster.
You've probably ordered from Cousins once or twice.
Thanks to Freehold's own Savas and Victoria Alkoc, there are Cousins Maine Lobster trucks rolling up and down the Jersey Shore.
They saw the potential and opportunity in franchising back in 2017 and they are ready to take the next step.
The Alkoc's already have three food trucks, but now they are looking to open a restaurant.
There are other Cousins restaurants in operation Hollywood, Atlanta, Nashville, and even New York City.
Speaking to the Asbury Park Press, the husband and wife duo said that after being a mainstay in the food truck court on the boardwalk in Asbury Park this summer they learned of a prime restaurant space that was going to be available.
This space is right on Ocean Avenue and will take over where Tower Dogs used to be.
They hope to have Cousins Maine Lobster Asbury Park up and running by the spring of 2022.
The restaurant will obviously highlight its legendary lobster rolls.
They will also expand the food offerings that we've come to know and love from the food trucks.
Now I'm hungry. I'm going to track down Cousins' next food truck stop.
