Here's the frightening news. There have been reported Bigfoot sightings in New Jersey. The good news is it might have just been a case of mistaken identity and it was actually just the Jersey Devil.
There was a story about 5 years ago at Fox 29 about a couple who were just minding their own business in the Pine Barrens when the woman swore she saw Bigfoot in the car's rear-view mirror.
At the time the head of the National Bigfoot Field Research Organization said there are many, even dozens of reports over the years, and he considered this one credible.
Apparently, beasts like this have different names in different parts of the state. In the north, it's known as Big Red Eye and in the southern part of the state, it's simply the Jersey Devil, although I never thought the Jersey Devil and Bigfoot looked anything alike.
Here's a stat that is going to shake you to your New Jersey core. There have been over 70 Bigfoot sightings in the Garden State according to the Bigfoot Field Research Organization website.
For the record, the most recent report of a Bigfoot sighting in New Jersey happened within the past month.
The three New Jersey counties that have had the most Bigfoot reports are, in order of incidents, Sussex (18), Burlington (15), and Ocean (10). Many of the reports are pretty recent, but some date back as far as the 1970s.
