Brick, NJ man arrested outside Dollar Tree for trying to buy drugs while high

A Brick Township man cruising through parking lots on Route 88 found himself in handcuffs for trying to buy drugs.

That is among four arrests that the Brick Police Street Crimes Unit announced that they made over the past week.

One of the collars SCU Detectives made was that of 27-year old Kenneth Furman, who was also arrested and charged in November of 2019 at the Maple Leaf Condominium Complex with Obstruction.

On Tuesday of last week, police arrested him as he sat in the passenger seat of a vehicle outside the Wawa on Route 88.

He had an active warrant out on him out of Brick Township, and following his arrest, he was brought to the Ocean County Jail.

Asianna Marlow, 22, of Toms River, was pulled over on Wednesday after police said she committed several motor vehicle violations.

SCU Detectives ended up arresting Marlow because of an outstanding warrant out of Toms River.

Police said she posted bail and was then released.

On Wednesday night, around 8:30 pm, Brick Police SCU saw a man riding a bike across several parking lots along Route 88, even stopping people in their vehicles while on foot, and was allegedly loitering to obtain drugs.

SCU detectives went up to Gerald Snyder, 39, Brick Township, in the parking lot of Dollar Tree on Route 88, and as they investigated, they learned he was under the influence of CDS.

Police said that as they tried to arrest Snyder, he charged at the officers, leading to a scuffle.

It reportedly escalated to the point where Snyder tried to grab a pocket knife out of his pocket.

Snyder was eventually arrested and police said that they then found an undisclosed quantity of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia on him.

He was charged with loitering to obtain CDS, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, resisting arrest, obstruction, possession of a weapon (pocket knife), possession of crack cocaine, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and under the influence of a CDS.

Snyder was then processed and brought to the Ocean County Jail.

Later that night, around 10:15 pm, police pulled over a vehicle on Brick Boulevard after the driver was moving about erratically including failing to maintain his lane and for using a cell phone while he was driving.

Barry Ellenwood 2nd, 35, of Wharton, was then arrested for obstruction after failing to obey officers’ commands to get out of the vehicle.

When police searched the vehicle, they said that they found five bundles of heroin packaged for sale as well as a large amount of money.

Ellenwood 2nd was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, possession of heroin, obstruction, failure to maintain lane, use of a hands-free cellular phone, and tinted windows, and was then brought to the Ocean County Jail.
