In the span of five-days time, the Brick Police Street Crimes Unit placed eight people under arrest as they investigated drug and shoplifting related incidents.

Brick Police announced the arrests Tuesday of 30-year old Desiree DeMartino of Point Pleasant, 37-year old Anthony Calabrese of Jackson, 42-year old Jason Lasry of Metuchen, 40-year old Ryan Chapman of Howell, 27-year old Jamell White of Brick, 33-year old Hector Hernandez of Seaside Heights, 36-year old Albert Palmieri III and 38-year old Melissa Scheller of Toms River for their alleged roles in separate incidents.

SCU Detectives saw some suspicious activity unfold at the Exxon on Drum Point Road on Monday October 18 around 11:30 pm and shortly thereafter pulled over DeMartino for motor vehicle infractions.

Their on-scene investigation led them to the discovery of heroin, cocaine, crack and prescription pills.

DeMartino was then charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin, crack, cocaine, methadone, Alprazolam, a hypodermic syringe, and drug paraphernalia.

Brick Police said that those charges were issued on a warrant and DeMartin was then brought to the Ocean County Jail.

SCU Detectives pulled over a vehicle on Tuesday October 19 around 7:00 pm after spotting some suspicious activity in the Walgreens parking lot on Route 88.

Soon thereafter police said that they found heroin and charged the driver, Calabrese, with possession of heroin and paraphernalia as well as motor vehicle summonses.

Brick Police said Calabrese’s drug charges were issued on a warrant and he was brought to the Ocean County Jail. The charges have since been moved from a warrant to a summons.

His passengers, Lasry and Chapman, were then charged with possession of heroin and paraphernalia.

Lasry was released on a summons while Chapman was charged on a warrant and transported to Ocean County Jail where Brick Police said that when he was searched officers found a quantity of crack on his person.

SCU Detectives saw a drug deal unfold on Wednesday October 20 around 5:30 pm and promptly pulled over Jamell White who was then charged with distribution of crack, possession of crack and paraphernalia and then released on a summons.

SCU Detectives saw Palmieri III shoplifting at the Wawa located on Brick Boulevard on Friday October 22 around 11:30 am and after they pulled him over, he was placed under arrest while his accomplices, Hernandez and Scheller were also charged.

Brick Police found  heroin and paraphernalia on the scene.

Palmieri was charged with distribution of heroin, possession of heroin and paraphernalia, and shoplifting.

Hernandez was charged with distribution of heroin, possession of heroin and paraphernalia.

Brick Police said that their charges were issued on a warrant and both were brought to the Ocean County Jail.

Scheller was charged with possession of heroin and paraphernalia, and released on a summons.
