The Brick Police Street Crimes Unit have closed the books on a series of drug related incidents across the township where they placed eight people in handcuffs.

Three men were caught smoking pot while idling in their vehicles but all eight men were in possession of and or smoking drugs in the parking lot of a local business.

In addition to weed, police also recovered heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

On February 13, detectives observed an occupied suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of 945 Cedarbridge Avenue (Leonard Perry Motors).

When they approached the vehicle and made contact with the two occupants, Nicholas Toto, 28, Pleasantville and Piotr Korytkowski, 37, Staten Island detectives noticed that the vehicle to be unregistered with a fictitious license plate.

Detectives also picked up the odor of raw marijuana and a search of the vehicle was conducted which found the weed along with heroin, cocaine and packaging materials.

Toto was charged with Possession of marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia.

He was processed and transported to Ocean County Jail.

Korytkowski was charged with Possession of CDS (heroin), Possession of CDS (cocaine), Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, Possession of hypodermic syringe and Possession of CDS with intent to distribute.

He was processed and released on a summons.

On February 27, detectives observed a drug transaction inside a vehicle in the parking lot of 7-11 (856 Route 70).

As they approached the vehicle which was being operated by Jeffrey Hernandez, 41, of Brick, Wilfredo Acevedo, 39, of Tuckerton was attempting to exit the vehicle.

When they identified themselves Hernandez quickly backed his vehicle to flee nearly striking one of the detectives with the vehicle.

He was apprehended a short distance away in the parking lot of Joe Canals.

A search of his vehicle revealed a quantity of marijuana and packaging materials.

Acevedo attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by detectives in the parking lot.

Acevedo was placed into custody and found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.

Both men were transported to Ocean County Jail.

Acevedo was charged with Possession of marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia and Resisting by Flight.

He was processed and transported to Ocean County Jail.

Hernandez was charged with Possession of marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, Distribution of CDS, Resisting by Flight and Obstruction.

He was also processed and transported to the Ocean County Jail.

On March 6, members of the Brick Township Police Street Crimes Unit were in the area of the Brick Motor Inn, 912 Route 70 where they observed a vehicle occupied by a male driver, later identified as Forlang Spencer, 49, Newark and a male passenger, later identified as Roberto Ritorto, 35, Old Bridge sitting inside the parked vehicle.

The passenger, Ritorto, exited the vehicle and approached a third man, later identified as Thomas Woltmann, 56, Lake Hiawatha.

Police say Ritorto then re-entered the vehicle and took off at a high rate of speed.

While doing so the occupants began to throw debris from the vehicle.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted for the violations.

Based on a positive indication from their K9 Echo, the vehicle and its occupants were searched which led to the seizure of numerous cell phones and a quantity of cocaine and heroin, both of which were packaged for sale.

A short time later, detectives made contact with Woltmann who was found to be in possession of cocaine, heroin and CDS paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation $805.00 in U.S. Currency, the vehicle, and quantities of Cocaine, Heroin and Drug Paraphernalia were seized.

Forlang Spencer was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance – (3 Counts), Manufacturing - Distributing Heroin / Cocaine, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle, Careless Driving and Throwing Debris from a Motor Vehicle.

He was processed and transported to Ocean County Jail

Thomas Woltmann was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Being Under the influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

Woltmann was released on a summons.

Ritorto was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Manufacturing Distributing Heroin / Cocaine.

Ritorto was processed and transported to Ocean County Jail.

On March 7, detectives from the BPSCU were in the area of the Brick Motor Inn when they observed a suspicious motor vehicle which was subsequently stopped and that's when officers detected an odor of marijuana and conducted a search.

The rear passenger, Matthew Diaz, 29, of Brick was arrested for Possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe.

Diaz was found to have smoked crack cocaine at the Brick Motor Inn prior to the motor vehicle stop and was also charged with being under the influence of CDS.

Diaz was processed and transported to Ocean County Jail.
