Brick Police SCU sweeps the streets of crack-cocaine, meth, CDS

Police in Brick Township continue their crackdown of the illegal selling, dealing and possession of drugs with a big help from their Street Crimes Unit who made several more arrests this past week.

The SCU was conducting surveillance outside of the Wawa on Brick Boulevard on August 3 when Detectives noticed a suspicious car who committed several motor vehicle violations and so they pulled it over along with patrol officers.

Patrolman Smith and his K9 partner “Echo” were then called in.

Echo's scent was on to something leading to a search of the vehicle which led officers to discover Methamphetamine packaged for resale in multiple plastic bags.

In addition, a quantity of Clonazepam pills were also located in the vehicle.

The driver, Kristina L. Wilson, 36, Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

She was also issued traffic summonses for careless driving, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, failure to possess a valid proof of insurance, illegal safety glass and obstruction of view and following her arrest, was released on a summons.

The passenger, Michael C. Malinowski, 41, Brick, was charged with possession of CDS, possession of paraphernalia and Possession of CDS with the intent to distribute.

Malinowski was transported to the Ocean County Jail.

The next day, August 4, around 4:00 pm, SCU detectives received anonymous tips about a possible drug dealing taking place at an address on Hulse Landing Road.

SCU detectives went to the scene, checked it out and then saw a vehicle pull up to the residence "which appeared to be drug activity."

They conducted a motor vehicle stop with the assistance from patrol officers.

This time, Patrolman Raymond LaPoint and his K9 partner ‘Rebel” joined SCU on scene.

K9 Rebel sniffed out the vehicle which led officers to search it and find Oxycodone pills as well as a quantity of Buprenorphine / Hydrochloride pills, and a switch blade.

The driver Jacob Kahl, 43, Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of CDS, possession of paraphernalia and possession of prohibited weapons.

He was also issued traffic summonses for careless driving, failure to maintain lane, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle and using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and following his arrest, was processed and released on a summons.

While they were wrapping up this arrest, SCU spotted a suspicious vehicle on Hulse Landing Drive.

Patrolman LaPoint and his K9 partner Rebel arrived on scene whose sniff led officers to search the vehicle and find Xanax, Sulfamethoxazole, Hydrochloride, Oxycodone, Anabolic Steroids, and CDS paraphernalia.

The driver, Joseph Cafasso, 51, Brick was arrested and charged with possession of CDS, possession of a prescription legend drug, and possession of CDS with the intent to distribute as well as being issued a summons for CDS in a motor vehicle.

The passenger, Michael Restaino, 63, Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of CDS, possession of a prescription legend drug, possession of paraphernalia, possession of CDS with the intent to distribute and possession of anabolic steroids (two counts).

Cafasso and Restiano were both transported to the Ocean County Jail.

Then on August 10, SCU detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop at 550 Rt 70 which led to the seizure of a glass pipe containing crack cocaine.

Monta Johnson, 43, Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of paraphernalia.

Johnson was also given a summons for careless driving and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle and was brought to the Ocean County Jail.
