Each year the artwork is amazing.....and it's all created with cans that will go toward feeding those in need in our area.

If you have some cans to spare you could help in the creation of this year's CANsculpture food drive to benefit the Foodbank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties.

The CANsculpture committee is hoping to collect enough cans to build a replica of Manasquan High School. They are asking primarily for any 16 oz. B&M Baked Beans since it has a "brick look."  However, since it's a food drive, as long as the food hasn't expired and it's non-perishable, they'll collect it for the Foodbank.

Once the sculpture of 2500 cans is disassembled, all proceeds will go the the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. It's a creative, fun, and unique food drive with an artistic twist to help feed those in need and celebrate creativity by uniting the school staff, students and community.

You can drop off your cans at Manasquan High School in the Media Center.

A girl named Monica started this concept as a fifth grader at Spring Lake Heights elementary school and is now a junior at MHS who is still committed to fighting hunger in our area.

If you'd like to see the finished sculpture, it will be unveiled Tuesday, April 24th at 3pm in the Jack Nicholson Theater (yes...THAT Jack Nicholson, a graduate of MHS!)

Remember.....it's not just about donating a turkey for the holidays. People in our area go hungry all year long. Please give what you can - - no pun intended. You have until April 19th to drop off your unopened cans.
