Help Spread Autism Awareness with Matt Ryan, Circle Hyundai and Autism MVP

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Little Silver-based Autism MVP for nearly five years. I met the founder of Autism MVP Keith Green through my relationship with Circle Hyundai. They are such wonderful people.

Keith and his wife, Donna, started this 501(c)3 non-profit in 2015 in honor of their son.

New Jersey has the highest rate of autism in the United States. Thanks to The Green Family and their incredible team of volunteers, they focus on Autism after diagnosis. Specifically, education. There is a huge need for teachers who specialize in educating those with Autism.

Autism MVP honors the Most Valuable Prospective students (MVP) and encourages them to be autism-focused professionals.

Autism MVP has created programs for educators and therapists through the Autism Program Improvement Project. Based at Monmouth University, APIP is a university-based project focusing on enhancing training for teachers of students with autism in public school programs. Core features of this project include:

• Comprehensive program assessment
• Development of district-wide program improvement plans
• Individualized training plans for teachers
• Identification and training of an in-district coach
• Consultation and collaboration with district administration
• Embedment of sustainable professional development model in district

Autism MVP awards scholarships to those who are looking to make positive change in the Autism education and therapy fields, and help fund supplies for special education teachers’ classrooms.

I know so many families that deal with Autism. I think we all do. Sadly, the rate of diagnosis is not going down. That’s why it’s so critical that we encourage and train as many professionals as possible to make sure every person with Autism is getting a proper education.
