Legendary New Jersey Seafood Restaurant To Close, But Don’t Panic
A familiar Jersey Shore restaurant that locals love for sunsets, drinks by the water, and long summer nights is hitting pause for a bit. Not forever. Just long enough to reset, regroup, and get ready for what it does best. The reason this is "news," is because this establishment has previously been a year-round joint.

For as long as I can remember, this hotspot has tried to be everything all year long. Cozy winter dinners. Quiet off-season nights. But winter at the Shore is a different animal, especially on a barrier island where the population drops fast once the weather turns.
After taking a hard look at how the colder months really play out, the owners decided it made more sense to lean into what this spot is truly known for.

Why winter on the Jersey Shore is tough
Anyone who lives near the water knows how quiet things get after New Year’s. Fewer visitors. Shorter days. Empty streets. Even the most beloved waterfront restaurants feel it. Operating year-round sounds great in theory, but the reality can be a grind when there just aren't enough people around.
The owners of Deauville Inn in Strathmere told NJ.com that, while they believed in staying open through winter, the slower pace made them reconsider. Instead of forcing it, they are choosing to step back and focus all their energy on delivering an unforgettable summer experience.

What the break means for locals and fans
This is not a goodbye. It is a planned winter break that will last a few months. The restaurant will close temporarily toward the end of January and reopen in April, just in time for warmer weather, busier weekends, and those golden hour sunsets everyone shows up for.
The team says the goal is to come back refreshed and ready, with a renewed focus on what made the place special in the first place.
A Shore landmark preparing for summer
Deauville Inn in Strathmere is a landmark on the Jersey Shore that has been part of the community since 1881. Sitting right on the bay, it is known for its dock, outdoor bar, waterfront dining, and unbeatable sunset views. New owners took over in 2019 and kept the year-round experiment going until now.
The Deauville Inn will remain open limited hours until January 26, then reopen in April, ready to reclaim its spot as one of the Shore’s go-to summer destinations.
