Despite the record-breaking cold temperatures on January 1st, 2018, approximately 500 swimmers dove head first into the Atlantic for the 15th annual Sons of Ireland Polar Bear Plunge.

Check out drone footage at APP.com of the plunge that took place at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park! Plungers paid a $25 fee which is going towards charity, but the final tally has not been announced.

Unfortunately, according to longtime organizer Mitchell Martin, the numbers were not nearly as good as they have been in the past. (Let's hope that has to do with the cold temperatures)

"There were more spectators than plungers. Usually, it's the other way around," explained Martin. "However, we thought it was going to a dead year."
