Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, Man Charged For Allegedly Setting Woman’s Pants on Fire
An Egg Harbor Township man has been charged for allegedly assaulting a woman by setting her pants on fire.
The incident unfolded around 4:40 early Wednesday morning when officers were called to the area of the NAFEC traffic circle for a report of woman in distress.
Officers eventually found the woman in a remote area under power lines between Tilton Road and the Atlantic City Expressway.
Once located, the victim advised officers that she had been assaulted and burned with a pair of her own pants that had been set on fire by the accused. Prior to leaving the area, the accused male had also smashed out a window in the victim’s vehicle.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
At around 9:15 this morning, the accused, 34-year-old John Simpson of Egg Harbor Township, was located by authorities and taken into custody.

He has been charged with aggravated assault, arson, and criminal mischief.
Simpson was ultimately transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
