46 Monmouth County firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty will be remembered in a special ceremony Sunday morning in Howell. They put their lives on the line to save yours. A job many don't even get paid for. It takes a special person —a hero, if you will — to do such a thing.

At 10 am this Sunday, Oct. 6th, Monmouth County officials and hundreds of firefighters from around the county will gather at the Monmouth County Fire Academy to honor them.

A carnation will be placed at the foot of the Fallen FIrefighters monument for each of Monmouth County’s fallen firefighters.

The monument stands outside the Fire Academy at 1027 Rt. 33 East in Howell.

Following the memorial service, an awards ceremony will be held and medals will be distributed to firefighters who have gone above and beyond the call of duty during the past year.

Words cannot express how much we appreciate your service to our communities here at the Jersey Shore.
