First Night Ocean County starts at noon on the Seaside Heights boardwalk with a magic show, face painting, a balloonist, caricature portraits, music and a touch tank from Jenkinson's Aquarium. Various attractions will be available throughout the afternoon at arcades on the boardwalk. The celebration culminates with a fireworks show at 5 p.m. on the boardwalk, weather permitting. The Jersey Shore Running Club is hosting its eighth New Year's Eve Twilight Run/Walk & Party. The well-lighted, three-mile course runs along the boardwalk in Asbury Park. Registration begins at 4 p.m. at Porta's Pizza, 911 Kingsley Ave. in Asbury Park, a short distance from The Stone Pony. The cost is $38, which includes food and drink at Porta’s. The event draws 250 to 300 runners and walkers each year. The run/walk begins at 5:30 p.m., allowing participants to ring in the Irish New Year at 7 p.m. More info at www.jsrc.org.
