The former Long Beach Police Sergeant who illegally accessed a secure law enforcement computer for personal reasons has been sentenced to one-year of probation, announced Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

Gerald Traynor, 53, was suspended upon being charged by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards Unit  in April of 2018 but as a condition of the guilty plea he has signed a Consent Order forfeiting his employment with the Long Beach Township Police Department.

Traynor was sentenced by the Honorable Wendel E. Daniels, Pr.J.Cr.P., to one year of supervised probation for accessing a secure law enforcement computer for personal reasons.

He pled guilty to one count of Computer Criminal Activity before Judge Daniels on July 11, 2019.

Traynor is ineligible for future employment with any public entity in the State of New Jersey.
