You’ve Seen The Asbury Park, New Jersey Foxes – Here’s What You Need To Know
By now, we all know about that adorable fox family in Asbury Park that has decided to steal our hearts this spring. Here are the things you might not know about them.
We have all sort of adopted this mom and family of foxes that chose to make their home in quite an expensive piece of land on the Asbury Park beach. We are all rooting for them and we are enamored by them. We are treating them like they are part of our Jersey Shore family, and they certainly are.
So I reached out to the Executive Director of the Monmouth County SPCA, Ross Licitra to find out about the do’s and don’t around these amazing creatures, and here they are.
Please don't:
1. Feed the fox or her kids
2. Approach them or try to interact with them in any way
3. Bring your dogs there. The fox could sense this as a threat
Please do:
1. Give them plenty of room
2. Be quiet and respectful
3. Take lots of photos
I also inquired about what would happen to them as we near Memorial Day Weekend and all the crowds that will follow. Will they have to be placed somewhere else? It turns out that Mother Nature may be taking care of that as well.
The little ones will be reaching a point where they would be leaving that nest anyway right around the time of the holiday weekend, and even if they didn’t , they wouldn’t stick around long with all those people around, so they’ll do what they would naturally do and move on to another, more quiet space.
We will continue to keep you updated on anything we can do to help these beautiful animals, but it seems like for now, leaving them alone and letting them handle their own business, which they are doing very well, is the best plan.
