A Galloway Township resident has been arrested and is facing 110 counts of animal cruelty.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant at a home at 833 E. Moss Mill Road, owned by 56-year-old Diane Haytas.

The search warrant was the culmination of a month-long investigation into animal cruelty and neglect occurring at the residence.

Authorities say a total of 15 dogs, 12 rabbits, 15 birds, five guinea pigs, two ferrets, and five cats were seized.

The animals were found to be living in inhumane and unsanitary conditions inside the house, without access to clean water or food. Several of the animals were kept in cages inside a detached garage.

A number of dead birds were also discovered on the floor of the home as detectives were searching the property, according to officials.

All of the animals that were seized were taken to a veterinarian to be evaluated; they will be held pending the outcome of this case.

The Prosecutor’s Office would like to remind the public that any pets that can no longer be properly cared for, or are no longer wanted, can be surrendered at the Atlantic County Animal Shelter in Pleasantville or the Humane Society in Atlantic City.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
