Fortunately for Garden State residents, New Jersey is not at the top of this list. But that doesn't mean there's no chance we'll see a ghost here.

How Many Ghost Sightings Are Reported In New Jersey?

For the record, and for purposes of comparison, New York was the state named the most likely to see a ghost, with 82 sightings per 10,000 people.

Behind the Big Apple, at #2, were Texas (77 per 10,000) and Louisiana (74 per 10,000). So where did New Jersey rank?

Despite New Jersey's beloved town of Cape May, where ghost sightings are legendary, the Garden State lands in the middle of the pack, only averaging ghost sighting reports from 34 in 10,000 residents.

If you are ok with ghost sightings, you'll be happy to know that the Garden State has nearly six times the sightings as the state with the lowest reports.

Georgia has only 6 reports per 10,000 residents, and that is the lowest number in the nation, according to the report.
