As much as I love homemade pizza, I do NOT want to turn the oven on during these hot summer days. To solve this problem, I invested in a pizza stone that could be placed on the grill (when purchasing a pizza stone, be sure it can be placed on the grill).  Here are some tips for pizza on the grill.

First, stretch the dough on the pizza stone, brush a little extra virgin olive oil, and set on the grill for approximately 5 to 8 minutes or until the crust becomes firm and a little toasty.  Add a thin layer of tomato sauce, so the crust does not become soggy.  Add 7 slices of fresh mozzarella (the kind that is round or pre-sliced log). I prefer the pre-sliced log so each slice is the same thickness for even cooking. Be generous with fresh basil leaves, add fresh ground pepper and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil before returning it to the grill for about 8 to 10 minutes (depending on how well done you want your pizza).

Now you can enjoy homemade pizza and keep your kitchen cool.  Buon Appetito!
