Helen D is a resident at Brandywine Assisted Living in Toms River. On Sunday, October 4 she will have been on this Earth for a century.

Because COVID is getting in the way of throwing Helen the epic bash that she deserves, her granddaughter is hoping that we as a community can get together and send her 'Nana Bean' some love through the mail in the form of birthday cards.

Helen's granddaughter told Patch:

We wanted to try to do something very special for her. One of the ways we thought of as a family was to ask everyone that would be interested in participating to send her a simple birthday card to make this 100th birthday the best it can be!

You surely have a card around the house that you could send Helen's way. If you don't, stop at the store and pick one up. Even better, have the kids make one and send it as a family. I'm sure all of our greetings would go a long way.

Think about all that Helen has seen and experienced since 1920. She's actually been alive for two pandemics believe it or not.

Make this extraordinary woman's big day even bigger by sending her a birthday card.
