What police said they know so far is that a juvenile on a skateboard was heading down Waterwitch Avenue hill when the teen crashed into the passenger side of a Ford truck which had been driving south on Shore Drive going through the Waterwitch Avenue intersection at the time.

Police arrived on scene shortly after the call came in at 4:45 pm and begin administering first aid to the injured skateboard rider.

The juvenile suffered serious injuries and needed to be flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Police said that the driver of the pick-up truck remained at the scene of the accident and "has been cooperating fully with the investigation."

A number of witnesses also stayed at the scene to provide their statements to police and are in the process of being interviewed.
