A home in the Holiday City section of Berkeley Township sustained damage in a Thursday fire, that appears accidental in its cause, but remains under further investigation.

Berkeley Police said they responded around 10:15 am to a La Combe Terrace residence and saw that it was engulfed in flames.

They were able to then learn that nobody was inside the home at the time.

The Berkeley Township fire department had some assistance putting out the fire from The Manitou Park Fire Department, The Pinewald Pioneer Fire Department, Bayville Fire Department, Beachwood Fire Department and the Toms River Fire Department.

For precautionary purposes, surrounding homes on the street were evacuated and traffic was diverted from the area.

Police said the residents of the home reported no injuries.

The fire is currently being investigated by the Berkeley Township Detective Bureau, The Berkeley Township Fire Official and the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office.
