Would it surprise you that the average person spends just under an hour per day on their smartphone?

If you asked me to guess, I would have doubled that number at least. All it takes to understand why I would think that, just spend some time in a public place and people watch. No one is looking up. Everyone has their head down, buried in their smartphone.

But according to a report at youeye.com, the average person spends 58 minutes per day on the smartphone. 26% of that time is spent on talking and 20% on texting. That surprised me too. I didn't think anybody was talking anymore.

Here's another interesting fact about smartphone usage. In a report at businessinsider.com, the average person is checking their phone 150 times a day. That's amazing. If you're up 18 hours a day, that's 8 checks an hour or one every 7 minutes. That's a lot of distraction.

So, all in all, using your smarthphone about an hour a day seems pretty reasonable and checking it 150 times a day is, well, not surprising. You don't want to be the last to know anything, right. Especially when knowing it is right in the palm of your hand.
