Howell sisters Fighting H.A.R.D. non-profit holding fundraiser to help kids with rare diseases
Head to the mini-golf course or driving range, whatever you need to practice your swing, because you'll need it come August.
The Fighting H.A.R.D. (Having A Rare Disease) Foundation is holding a Golf Fundraiser on August 10 at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Colts Neck and you are invited.
Allie and Jonna Crocker, two Howell sisters battling their own rare diseases, set out to help others like them and those families by brightening their spirits and assisting with expensive medical bills especially for families sadly not getting much coverage from their insurance company for medicines, doctors visits and other treatments for a rare disease.
They also continue to shine a light on rare diseases to help others know they're not alone as well as push for research and funding to be able to help others.
Allie, who is currently a senior at Howell High School, became ill as a child and over the years has battled Crohn’s Disease, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and Anxiety.
Her younger sister Jonna suffers through gastroparesis and SMA Syndrome.
They formed the Fighting H.A.R.D. Foundation for support and aid after coming up short in looking for an organization that supported all rare diseases.
Part of their mission to help others with the foundation is holding fundraisers which has been a challenge during the pandemic, although they held a virtual walk/run/5K earlier this year and raised several thousand dollars.
Now comes the Golf Fundraiser and don't worry you don't have to be Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods or Bryce DeChambeau to take part, just be yourself.
It's all to help others.
You could also become a sponsor.
All the details are on their website and in a very heartfelt letter from Allie and Jonna Crocker you can read right here, provided to Townsquare Media News by Allie Crocker.
Please help if you can.
Hello!
My name is Alexandra Crocker, and I am a current senior at Howell High School.
My sister Jonna and I are the founders of Fighting H.A.R.D. Foundation, a nonprofit organization started in 2015 with the mission of helping kids with rare diseases and chronic illnesses to not feel alone.
We have both faced the struggles of having rare diseases and created the foundation to help kids just like us.
We are excited to let you know that we will be holding our first golf outing this year to raise much-needed awareness for these diseases and to bring the community together in a safe way to enjoy the day on the golf course!
Fighting H.A.R.D. Golf Outing “FORE” the Kids Tuesday, August 10, 2021 Pebble Creek Golf Club Colts Neck, NJ
We support children and families impacted by rare diseases primarily right here in Monmouth and Ocean counties in central New Jersey.
While we do send care packages across the country, we focus on providing consistent emotional and financial support and resources to over 30 families locally.
We work to accomplish our mission by not only raising awareness and sending care packages, but also holding regular support group meetings for Fighting H.A.R.D. kids and “rarents”, covering expenses for families who need to travel across the country for specialized care, sending a family’s favorite dinner after a long day of treatment or an extended hospital stay, purchasing medical necessities not covered by insurance, and hosting get-togethers (now virtual due to the pandemic) where our rare kiddos can connect with one another and have a day of laughter and fun with others who “get it”.
Seeing the smile on a child’s face when they open a care package created especially for them, or when they get home and realize that there is dinner from their favorite restaurant waiting for them, is the most valuable thing to us at Fighting H.A.R.D! With your help, we can continue to help our real-life superheroes.
Please consider making a donation or sponsoring our golf outing to help us help kids with rare diseases and chronic illnesses to not feel alone. 100% of all funds raised go directly toward our mission.
Please see the attached sheet for opportunities and contact us if you have any questions.
Together, we can help these kids to know that they are never alone!
Thank you so much for your support!
Sincerely and Gratefully,
Alexandra and Jonna Crocker
