Are we so busy that we don't have time to use our blinkers, or even look up when we're driving? It seems to be getting worse every day.

I was on the Garden State Parkway yesterday, and I saw two separate people change lanes without hitting their blinkers. Both were looking down when they did it. This happened in about a two mile span, in the midst if all that construction in northern Ocean County. Great combination, right? One was searching for something on the passenger seat and one was, you guessed it, messing with his phone.

Have we gotten to the point that we have so much to do that multitasking is the norm in the car? Let somebody else worry about braking to avoid you or swerving to get around you? After all, you're having a real busy day. It's unbelievable.

I literally grabbed my steering wheel a little tighter when it happened. Smart adult people in New Jersey who don't seem to find it important to let the thousands of pounds of vehicles barreling down the Parkway at 70mph toward them which direction they intend to head. And they're not only make the move without notice, but  they can't take literally one second to simply look up during the maneuver.

Guess what New Jersey. We're not that busy. For the majority who do the right thing, I apologize for the rant. For those of you who feel the need to check your Facebook page while you're changing lanes on the Parkway without signalling, try to remember that those are our families, friends and kids in those cars around you. Get over yourself and pay attention. Thank you.
