My commute is about to get a lot longer. (In case you hadn't heard, the Point studios are moving, first temporarily to Bayville then finally to Toms River this summer.) While I've been relatively spoiled the last few years regarding my daily drive to work, I think my new routine will put me on the other end of the spectrum.

So are you doing better than the average?

According to the New York Times, the most recent available data suggests the average national commute time is about 25 minutes. One website says the average in New Jersey is 29.8 minutes.

I've been traveling 21.7 miles from Marlboro to Ocean, NJ...pretty much a straight shot down Rt 18, with an average commute time of about 24 minutes. (Yes, I drive faster than the speed limit.)

The new trip will take me to 43.6 miles and will take me an average of 55 minutes. (And I have to take the Parkway now no less -- Tolls?? UGH!)

I'm definitely glad to still be going against the flow of traffic...definitely a big help. I'm trying to look on the bright side...I'd rather have a long commute than be unemployed...but man...I am NOT looking forward to it!
