Each week during the 2022 soccer season, Shore Sports Network will recognize some of the top performers in the Shore Conference over the calendar week and give the fans of the Shore Conference to vote for the overall winner for the Player of the Week. There will be eight candidates, including six Players of the Week from each of the Shore Conference divisions as well as two wild cards.

This week's candidates were selected based on their performances from Monday, Oct. 17 through Sunday, Oct. 23. Read about the exploits of the eight candidates and vote for the best of the best to win the latest Player of the Week competition of the 2022 season.

Vote once per hour until the poll closes on Thursday at 10 p.m. The winner will be announced on Friday and awarded a $25 gift card to Surf Taco.

Class A North Player of the Week

Jack D’Eletto, CBA

D’Eletto scored in two of the three Shore Conference Tournament games CBA played last week and the second of the two is the new front-runner for goal of the year. The goal itself was brilliant on its own – an upper-90 strike that sliced away from the keeper while still tucking into the upper right side netting. The circumstances surrounding it puts it in rarefied air: D’Eletto’s strike gave CBA a 2-1 lead on Middletown North with 1:19 left in regulation of the SCT semifinal, effectively sending the Colts to the championship game.

Class A North Honorable Mention: Dimitry Corba, CBA; R.J. Eckelman, Howell; Charlie Scanlon, Howell; Mike Colantino, Middletown North; C.J. Crolius, Middletown North; Ryan Cohen, Marlboro; Ammar Danish, Freehold Boro; Shawn McCann, Marlboro; Dylan Millevoi, CBA; Paul Que, Middletown North; J.P. Candela, Howell; Kieran McLean, Freehold Boro; Anthony Sarkisov, Manalapan; Mike Pepe, Manalapan; Lawrence Mancino, CBA

Class A Central Player of the Week

Stephan Kapranov, Holmdel

Arguably the Shore’s most lethal striker as a sophomore, Kapranov has been hard for defenses to stop during the opening stages of games and second halves. He burned Marlboro for two goals in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals and converted his attempt in the penalty kick round. In the semifinals, he was all over Howell for the first 15 minutes of the match, but some good goalkeeping by Rebels senior Charlie Scanlon kept him and the Hornets off the board during that early flurry.

Class A Central Honorable Mention: Nick Damiano, Wall; Anthony Cano, Monmouth; Lupo Ryder, Raritan; Lucas Hutnik, Raritan

Class A South Player of the Week

Ryan DiCillo, Central

The Golden Eagles are flying high going into the NJSIAA Tournament and a big performance by DiCillo in a win over Lacey capped the last full week of the regular season. The senior scored a goal and assisted another by classmate John Truhan to give Central a 2-1 win over rival Lacey.

Class A South Honorable Mention: Kajus Matazinskas, Toms River East; Nick Prosperi, Southern; Peter Johnson, Toms River South; Jackson Markovitch, Toms River East; Ilyias Ciltepe, Central; Ryan Kozlej, Toms River East

Class B North Player of the Week

Aidan Sugrue, Manasquan

Manasquan has raised its game in recent weeks, as the Warriors showed in two strong Shore Conference Tournament performances and a rivalry win over Wall. In that 3-0 victory over the rival Crimson Knights under the lights at Wall Municipal Complex, Sugrue scored two goals and assistd another by classmate Matt Karolak.

Class B North Honorable Mention: Ernst Louisius, Neptune; Nico Skeete, Matawan; Anthony Vasquez, Long Branch; Chris Lopez, Long Branch; Julian Lemus, Neptune

Class B Central Player of the Week

Hermsley Louisius, Asbury Park

Asbury Park and Keyport battled for 100 minutes last week in search of a win and settled for a 2-2 draw. Louisius came through with the scoring for the Blue Bishops, with the sophomore putting both Asbury Park goals on the board.

Class B Central Honorable Mention: Josh Boyan, Point Beach; Dylan Gonzalez, Henry Hudson

Class B South Player of the Week

Peyton Calvetto, Donovan Catholic

Donovan Catholic seemed well on its way to a win over Henry Hudson before the Admirals erased a 3-0 deficit to send the game into overtime. Calvetto, who scored a goal and assisted another during the early stages of the match to help Donovan Catholic get out to the early lead, saved the day with the golden goal that gave the Griffins a 4-3 win.

Class B South Honorable Mention: Joey Kurak, Manchester; Matt Fletcher, Donovan Catholic; Mason Muolo, Point Boro; Angel Calidonio, Lakewood; Mateo Musmanni, Lacey

Wild Cards

R.J. Eckelman, Howell

Eckelman was the source of two memorable finishes for Howell, which made it all the way to the Shore Conference Tournament final for the first time since 2007. The senior captain converted the clinching penalty kick during a shootout win over Rumson-Fair Haven in the SCT quarterfinals and headed home Howell’s lone goal in the championship game loss to CBA. Eckelman was also the leader of a defense that allowed only three goals in four SCT games, including 270-plus scoreless minutes to start the tournament.

Mike Pepe, Manalapan

Manalapan finished the regular season strong and guaranteed itself a spot in the NJSIAA Tournament by climbing above the .500 mark with three impressive wins over Matawan, Colts Neck and Middletown North. Pepe delivered three goals during the three-game stretch, including two goal in the 4-1 win over Matawan and the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Class B North division champion Colts Neck.
