Sectional Semifinals

Central Jersey Group IV

(1) Freehold Twp. 2, (4) Rancocas Valley 0

Senior Kayla Wong and sophomore Sophie Tonino each scored in the first half and the Patriots blanked the Red Devils to march on to the sectional final round for the fourth straight season. Freehold Township has now posted five consecutive shutouts, including three straight in the NJSIAA Tournament.

(6) Manalapan 2, (2) East Brunswick 0

Junior Vanessa Sarf scored two goals off assists from freshman Daniella Butash and the Braves upended the Bears to advance to the Central Jersey Group IV final Saturday at top-seeded Freehold Township. Sarf opened the scoring in the 13th minute and tacked on a second goal a little under five minutes into the second half.

Central Jersey Group III

(5) Brick Memorial 2, (1) Steinert 1

Junior defender Ashlee Schlagenhaft scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute and the Mustangs knocked off the top-seeded Spartans to reach the Central Group III final Saturday at No. 3 Middletown South. The goal was the first of Schlagenhaft’s varsity career.

Senior Emily DeAlmeidaa scored the first Brick Memorial goal as both the Mustangs and Steinert traded first-half goals.

(3) Middletown South 4, (2) Allentown 2

Freshman Bea Tinoco took over with a four-goal performance, including two late goals that broke a 2-2 tie and sent the Eagles to the Central Jersey Group III championship game Saturday at home against No. 5 Brick Memorial.

Allentown tied the game on a penalty kick by junior Bella Conti in the 74th minute, but Tinoco came back with a 20-yard blast to the upper-right side netting to catapult Middletown South into the lead in the 77th. Less than two minutes later, the freshman made a 50-yard run to the left side of the 18-yard box and drilled another side-net strike to cap her memorable day.

Central Jersey Group II

(9) Wall 1, (5) Manasquan 0

Senior Kaitlyn Pettit headed in a corner kick from Erynn Richey in the 15th minute and the Crimson Knights blanked the Warriors to reach the sectional final round for the fourth straight year and eighth time in the last 10 years.

Wall – which lost the Central Group II final to Holmdel in overtime a year ago and the modified Central Group II title in 2020 to Rumson-Fair Haven in overtime – will travel to Rumson-Fair Haven for the sectional final on Wednesday looking to win its first sectional title since 2019.

(6) Rumson-Fair Haven 1, (2) Point Boro 1 – Rumson advances on penalties, 4-3

Paige West hit the last Rumson penalty kick and Point Boro hit the crossbar on its final attempt, giving the Bulldogs a shootout win over the Panthers to send them to the Central Jersey Group II title game Saturday at home against No. 9 Wall.

Both goals in the run of play came within two minutes of one another in the final nine minutes of the first half. Senior Molly Liggitt opened the scoring for Point Boro in the 31st minute and senior Janey Sypeck answered 1:43 later with Rumson’s lone goal, which came off a feed from junior Paige West.

Central Jersey Group I

(4) Point Beach 4, (8) Roselle Park 1

Freshman Baileigh Johnson scored a goal in each half and assisted another by senior Naima Shortridge to help lead the Garnet Gulls past the Panthers and into the sectional final for the third straight season.

Johnson opened the scoring in the 24th minute off a feed from sophomore Izzy Kurzon and extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 20th off a pass from sophomore Gabby Kirchner. Kurzon assisted another goal in the 70th, with Kirchner getting on the finishing end this time.

Point Beach will travel to No. 2 Highland Park Saturday for the Central Jersey Group I final.

South Jersey Group IV

(1) Eastern 3, (5) Central 0

South Jersey Group III

(2) Cherry Hill West 3, (6) Lacey 1

Junior Marly Besser scored an equalizer early in the first half, but the host Lions responded with two more goals to put the game away, move on to the sectional final and end Lacey’s sectional title defense in the sectional semifinal round.

Sectional Quarterfinals

South Jersey Non-Public A

(4) Trinity Hall 6, (5) Our Lady of Mercy 1

Sophomore Aubrey Scoble and freshman Eliza Charles each scored two goals and the Monarchs rode a four-goal first half to a win over Our Lady of Mercy and a semifinal match at top-seeded Red Bank Catholic.

Scoble also dished out an assist, while junior Reilly Sullivan contributed a goal and two assists and freshman Hailey Noorigian chipped in a goal and an assist for Trinity Hall.

(1) Red Bank Catholic 4, (8) Camden Catholic 1

Senior Sophia Racioppi scored a first-half goal off a pass from junior Iva Carton and Carton scored the game-winner in the 49th minute off a feed from Racioppi as the Caseys stormed past the Irish with three unanswered to close out the quarterfinal win.

Caley Maher tied the game at 1-1 in the 49th minute and Carton struck back just 23 seconds later to put Red Bank Catholic back in front, 2-1. Junior Mya King extended the RBC lead to 3-1 off an assist from classmate Emily Beyer in the 53rd minute and freshman Kylie Gallagher capped the scoring with a goal in the 71st.

South Jersey Non-Public B

(4) St. Rose 4, (5) Holy Spirit 0

Sophomore Elizabeth Mitchell scored two goals and classmate Samantha Brett assisted on three to spark the Purple Roses to a quarterfinal win over the Spartans. Senior Julia Whesper and sophomore Ava Gialanella each added a goal for St. Rose, which cruised through the final 40 minutes after taking a 3-0 advantage into halftime.

St. Rose will travel to play top-seeded Rutgers Prep in the sectional semifinals on Saturday.
