You know that phrase "you get what you pay for"? I feel like it's something that could be applied to living in New Jersey. Is housing expensive? Yes. Are property taxes out of control? Yes. Is it also one of the best states in the country to live in? Yes.

And that's not just my opinion; in fact, New Jersey recently ranked as the second best state in the nation to call home. As I mentioned above, our state has its drawbacks, mainly in the affordability area, but with all of those taxes and crazy prices, we get some really great social services that not every state has.

According to Patch, New Jersey did terribly when it came to affordability; however, we ranked high in things like low crime rates, high rates of insured residents, low percentages of adults in poor health, and we ranked pretty high for work-life balance.

Idaho Ranked As The Best State In America to Live

The only state that ranked as better than New Jersey to live in is Idaho, the potato state. And honestly, the idea of moving from the Garden State, where we have easy access to beaches, the best food in the country, and are a short ride from either Philadelphia or New York, to a place like Idaho would seem impossible. I mean, if I'm not living more than 15 minutes from the beach, it just isn't home!
