Monmouth County, NJ man found guilty of possessing deplorable amount of child porn
A Keansburg man faces 10-years in prison after being found guilty of gathering a deplorable amount of child porn for months and then storing it on several electronic devices, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago.
When investigators searched the Manning Place home of 34-year old Jose Gabe Veras in February of 2020, they found more than 1,000 child sexual abuse material items on multiple electronic devices.
It led to his immediate arrest and charge of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for gathering child porn between July of 2019 and February of 2020 which resulted in an indictment in October of 2021 and a guilty verdict handed down by a Monmouth County jury here in 2023.
Veras will remain in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold Township until his sentencing in May which could lead to 10-years in prison.
The investigation was by the Monmouth County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the New Jersey Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory after they got a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Prosecutor Santiago said that Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutors Joseph Competello and Joshua Carmel handled the prosecution and that Veras was represented by George J. Mardinly, Esq., with an office in Red Bank.
