One of the most iconic mascots in baseball would have to be Mr. Met, The mascot for the New York Mets. According to MLB.com, "Mr. Met's image debuted in 1963 when it graced the covers of the official Mets yearbook and scorecard." Mr. Met made his major league debut on April 17th, 1964. Now the Mets are looking to fill his big shoes, literally, as they look for a new manager to take over the role.

According to NJ.com, the New York Mets are looking to hire a manager of mascot operations for Mr. and Mrs. Met. The Mets are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and has high energy.

 

 

"The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for entertainment and a knack for engaging and interacting with fans of all ages. The Mascot will attend various events, both on and off-site, to promote our brand and create a fun and dynamic environment." LinkedIn listed the responsibilities of the position.

 

What does Mr. Met earn? According to the LinkedIn post, Base salary is $67,426.79/yr - $89,000/yr.

 

Both the Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies have very popular mascots. The Mets with Mr. and Mrs. Met and the Phillies and their "Fanatic". The Yankees do not have a mascot.

 

So do you think this is a job you would like? Sounds fun, but not sure how that costume feels during summer during the baseball season.
