Good News, Jersey: Spring Arrives This Week
It may not feel like it every day, but spring is officially arriving in New Jersey this week. The season begins with the Spring Equinox, which marks the moment when daylight and nighttime are nearly equal around the world. From this point on, the days slowly get longer, the sun climbs a little higher in the sky, and warmer weather starts creeping back into the Garden State.
After a long winter, that’s welcome news for just about everyone across New Jersey. This is the time of year when people start thinking about getting back outside again. Parks and boardwalks begin to see more foot traffic, outdoor dining slowly returns, and those early signs of spring start popping up in neighborhoods across the state.
You’ll start noticing the little things first. Trees begin to bud, flowers start pushing through the ground, and birds seem a little more active in the mornings. Even though chilly days can still show up for a while, the overall trend starts heading in the right direction.
Spring also means we’re getting closer to some of New Jersey’s most popular warm-weather traditions. Shore towns will begin preparing for the summer season, festivals and outdoor events will start appearing on community calendars, and baseball fans look ahead to Opening Day.
Of course, longtime residents know spring in New Jersey can be unpredictable. One day might feel like early summer, and the next could remind you winter isn’t quite ready to leave.
