The days of a phone hanging on the kitchen wall are pretty much over.
A small percentage of people still have a home phone, but many of you have said goodbye to your landline and now rely solely on your cellphone.

Younger kids aren't growing up with "old-school" phones so many don't know how to use one.
A cord keeping them from talking on the phone outside. What?!!
I remember watching the movie "Home Alone" with my young daughter and there's a scene where they use a payphone at the airport.
I had to explain to her what a payphone was.
It's hard for kids to comprehend a world without a cell phone attached to people at all times.
So that's why when I read this article on NJ.com it made me smile.
I think it's such a great idea!
There's a library in Union County that brought back a landline phone!
Yes, it's attached to the wall for everyone to use.
And it's free!
The phone can be found at the Summit Free Public Library.
Library officials told NJ.com that some kids didn't have a cell phone and would ask staff members if they could borrow a phone or have them make a call for them.
So they came up with the idea of attaching a landline phone to the wall.

Library Director Amy Behr-Shields told NJ.com that some kids didn't know how to use it and they had to help them dial.
She says, there's a lot of appreciation for this "old school" phone and people love that they provide this free service.
