New Jersey man had hundreds of child porn videos and pictures on his computer
A New Jersey man faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted after he pleaded guilty to possessing hundreds of child porn videos and images.
There was an investigation in the summer of 2019 after an undercover law enforcement officer received several files including images of child sexual abuse in them via a peer-to-peer file sharing program that July, according to U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger.
Upon looking into who was sending these files, law enforcement learned that they were coming from the home of the now 67-year-old John Schulenburg of Basking Ridge leading authorities taking his computer in November of 2019 which was filled with hundreds of child porn videos and pictures including of prepubescent children.
This was a second offense for Schulenburg as in 2013 he was convicted of endangering the welfare of a child and possession of child porn in Somerset County, but, this time he was charged with possession of child porn and now faces between 10 and 20 years in prison along with paying a fine of $250,000.
Attorney Sellinger said that in this case, the government was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Barnes of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Newark and the defense counsel for Schulenburg is Carol Dominguez Esq. Assistant Federal Public Defender, Newark.
