Stargazers are excited for tomorrow's April Full Pink Moon over New Jersey. Our first full moon since the big solar eclipse that we had a few weeks ago, will be the first sky event that should be a great site (weather permitting) for residents here in New Jersey. The April full moon is known as the "Pink" full moon. According to USA Today, "The full moon in April is known as the pink moon, named after the herb moss pink, also known as creeping phlox, moss phlox or mountain phlox. This is a plant native to the eastern United States that is one of the earliest widespread flowers of spring."

(Above) is a photo I took of the "Full Pink Moon" from April five years ago in 2019. As you can see there is no "pink" but hopefully we will get as good a view tomorrow (7:48 PM - Tuesday, April 24th) night. So if you were excited about the recent eclipse, then get set for another great "sky" view when the Pink Moon comes for a quick visit over New Jersey.

Something else to consider is viewing the beautiful "morning moon" when the full moon will be on full display. If you get up early you can view the morning moon at around

  • 5:45 a.m. Tuesday 23rd
  • 6:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24th
  • 6:35 a.m. Thursday, April 25th

The next Full Moon will occur on Thursday, May 23rd. The "May" Full Moon is known as the "Flower Moon". Then in June on the 21st, we will be treated to the "Strawberry Moon". So get out there this week and enjoy our latest treat from outer space.
