Car With Four Teens Crashes into Tree in Middle Township
Middle Township Police said a car driven by Omni Smigliani crashed into a tree on Friday, Jan 26 due to "hazardous conditions and severe fog." Photos of the car show extreme damage to the vehicle.
Smigliani and the front seat passenger, Charlie Omrod, both suffered brain injuries in the crash. The two backseat passengers were treated at Cape Regional Medical Center with broken bones.

The GoFundMe for Charlie Omrod, 16, a student at Cape May Tech said he was the front passenger and "took the main impact of the tree."
Omrod was taken to Cooper Medical Center and placed in a medically induced coma as he underwent five hours of surgery to stop his brain bleeding and remove fractured pieces of his skull.
He is now out of the coma and was able to get "up and moving around", according to the GoFundMe.
This isn't the only brain injury Omrod has had recently.
The fundraiser page says "he is currently still recovering from a dirt bike injury from six months ago that had caused skull fractures to the left side of his head and caused brain bleeding. This is a very tragic and serious impact on the whole family."
As of Wednesday morning, the campaign had raised almost $8000 for Omrod's medical expenses.
A GoFundMe for Omni Smigliani
Omni Smigliani's GoFundMe page says his vehicle hydroplaned into a tree on Swainton-Goshen Road (County Route 646). He was rushed to AtlantiCare Medical Center in Atlantic City.
Omni is in critical condition in an induced coma and required an emergency craniotomy to remove the left half of his skull to remove a large subdural hematoma.
"They will be leaving the skull removed to allow room for any swelling that may occur; he has many brain contusions as well."
Doctors have told his family Omni will be facing a long road to recovery.
