How disappointing. We are about to lose one of the freshest and most eclectic restaurants in the area. My biggest regret is having waited years before tying The Spot.

The Spot, at 331 Tilton Road, in the Tilton Shopping Center in Northfield, has announced it will close in late August, when their lease expires.

In a Facebook post this week, The Spot owners, Jonathan Sands and Erin McGee, said it's 'It’s bittersweet to say goodbye, but looking forward to the next chapter'.

Something Different

The Spot will close after 14 years of offering a homemade menu that accentuated freshness and natural ingredients and avoided overly processed foods.

In a 2012 interview with The Press of Atlantic City, Sands said putting fresh foods together creatively was what made The Spot different.

"We're doing everything that no one else is doing. It's not the same as any other place."

He told The Press the only thing in his freezer was bananas for their banana whips, and the only thing that came from a can was ketchup.

What a joy it has been to have access to a place that makes most of its own ingredients. From homemade sauces and spices, salad dressing and soups, to string cheese, pickles and pancake mix.

A Fond Farewell for The Spot

In its closing announcement on Facebook, the owners expressed satisfaction with having done it their way and thanked the customers who appreciated it.

'We have all of you to thank for your support in making our small restaurant such a great success! It's been a wonderful ride, and we are truly proud to have served this community for as long as we did.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us to express their love and appreciation for our business…we really appreciate it!"

The Spot will remain open until Sunday, August 23rd, so you still have time to enjoy.
